FBC-ABC joins agriculture and food groups from across the country in calling for a Grocery Code of Conduct. The attached paper lays out the case for greater discipline across Canada’s food supply chain. Did you know:
- Just five large companies control over 80% of Canada’s grocery market.
- Over 80% of new products introduced for retail customers were either developed or manufactured outside of Canada.
- 79% of Canadians feel that having a small number of grocery chains competing results in grocery prices being higher than they need to be.
Thanks to the work of FBC-ABC and Canada’s agri-food community, this item has made it to the agenda of the upcoming November 2020 Federal-Provincial-Territorial Ministers’ meeting.
