Food and Beverage Canada Celebrates Successful Lobby Day and Board of Directors meeting

May 6, 2024 (OTTAWA) – Food and Beverage Canada (FBC-ABC) is delighted to highlight the outcomes of its recent Board of Directors meeting and lobby day held in Ottawa this week.

At the Board of Directors meeting, crucial issues impacting the food and beverage manufacturing sector were discussed in depth. Among the topics addressed were the pivotal role of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program in alleviating labour shortages and the association’s advocacy initiatives concerning plastics policy. Members also engaged in a strategic planning session aimed at developing the association’s ongoing efforts to advance the industry’s interests.

FBC-ABC extends its heartfelt appreciation to Stefanie Beck, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, for meeting with the Board of Directors during their time in Ottawa. Deputy Minister Beck participated in a timely discussion on the sector’s labour challenges, emphasizing the significance of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, as well as the industry’s endeavours to tackle plastic waste.

“Coming out of our recent Board of Directors meeting, I am encouraged by the unified dedication shown in tackling industry challenges. Our discussions, both internally and with officials, highlighted the economic impact of our industry and underscored key priorities – notably, the pivotal role of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program in addressing labour challenges, the need for supply chain resiliency, and the imperative for collaboration on plastics policy.
