Food and Beverage Canada (FBC-ABC) Launches Working Group on Canada-US Relations

In response to the evolving dynamics of Canada-US relations and the impending tariff situation, Food and Beverage Canada (FBC-ABC) is pleased to announce the launch of a Working Group on Canada-US Relations. This initiative underscores the profound shifts in the bilateral relationship and the urgent need for a proactive, coordinated response from Canada’s food and beverage manufacturing industry.

The Working Group on Canada-US Relations will focus on facilitating intelligence sharing across FBC-ABC, company, and provincial and regional levels to inform strategic decision-making; developing consistent and unified messaging to effectively represent the industry’s priorities in public and government communications; coordinating responses to key government consultations, such as retaliatory tariff lists, to ensure the industry’s voice is heard in shaping trade and economic policies; and identifying and engaging in advocacy opportunities that support the sector’s interests in the evolving Canada-US trade landscape.

“This Working Group is designed to bring together the expertise and perspectives of our members while leveraging our partnerships with provincial and regional associations to coordinate and strengthen our response,” said Kristina Farrell (Proulx), CEO of FBC-ABC. “Collaboration is one of the defining factors of FBC-ABC, and by working together and aligning our messaging, we can navigate the complexities of Canada-US relations while safeguarding the interests of Canada’s food and beverage manufacturing sector.”

The Working Group is action-oriented and requires active participation. While all FBC-ABC members will continue to receive updates through regular information calls and the weekly News from Ottawa newsletter, the Working Group will serve as a dedicated forum for real-time engagement on Canada-US relations.

Participation in the Working Group is open to all FBC-ABC member companies and representatives from the provincial and regional food and beverage manufacturing associations. If your organization is interested in participating in this Working Group, or in discussing membership in FBC-ABC, please contact Kristina Farrell (Proulx), CEO of FBC-ABC.
