Food and Beverage Canada calls for a swift resolution to the Canadian Pacific Railway Labour Disruption

March 22, 2022 – Ottawa: Food and Beverage Canada (FBC-ABC), on behalf of Canada’s food and beverage manufacturing sector, is calling today for a swift resolution to the Canadian Pacific Railway Labour Disruption.

While we respect the collective bargaining process, Canada’s food system depends on a reliable transportation infrastructure to ensure that Canadians have access to the food they need. As such, we are requesting that the government use all the measures available to it to immediately resolve this work stoppage.

Canada’s critical infrastructure, including the food and beverage manufacturing sector, has already undergone significant strain to the supply chain, and is currently facing a debilitating labour crisis, as well as far-reaching impacts to operations due to the crisis in Ukraine. Further disruptions will make it increasingly difficult for companies and workers to ensure the food system continues to function smoothly.

Food and Beverage Canada (FBC-ABC) will continue to monitor the situation.
